Recently I made a huge change to my life by leaving my home and moving in with family members. My old injuries have finally caught up with me and has left with me with chronic conditions that make a solitary life all but impossible. Mobility issues require me to live where I will have assistance when I need it and I am fortunate enough to have a daughter and her family that welcomed me with open arms. I appreciate their bravery as I explore this facet of life and am looking forward to the new adventures that are waiting for me.
I feel fortunate that I can get to know my grandchildren and will be around for all the holidays and special events. We have an excellent pattern to imitate when our beloved family friends adopted this new lifestyle when the mom became a widow and moved in with her daughter and family. Thank you to Lucille and Debbe.
Multi-generational living under one roof is becoming the norm for a lot of families for many reasons, mutual aid and support, diversity of talents, expanded resources and security knowing someone is always available for whatever challenge may arise.
